Love Food? Check Out 30 Windsor Essex Restaurants For a Great Price Aug 11 to 17, 2014

It’s time to celebrate our local restaurants!  For one week only, diners and food lovers can celebrate Windsor and Essex County’s local dining scene by taking part in a unique culinary event.

From August 11 to August 17, 2014, visit any Eat Your City Restaurant Week participating restaurant and indulge in 3-course meals for lunch or dinner at great values across the county. Each restaurant will offer a unique Eat Your City menu and highlight the diverse and exceptional local dining in the region.

Diners can enjoy a 3 course lunch for $10 or $15 or head out to dinner and indulge in a 3 course meal for $25 or $35 and choose from multiple selections for each course.

“This year we have over 30 restaurants participating,” says Adriano Ciotoli, co-owner of WindsorEats. “It's the most that have ever taken part in an Eat Your City Restaurant Week. It has grown in popularity over the years and become a much anticipated event. Customers have a chance to visit their favourite restaurants and get a great deal or visit a restaurant they've never been to before and experience something new.”

Many of the participating restaurants are also offering items not normally on their regular menu.

"The restaurant week allows restaurants to get creative and come up with items outside of their regular menu and that are only offered for the duration of the restaurant week," says Ciotoli.

Highlights of the week include:

  • Normally reserved for private members, The Windsor Club will be opening its doors to the general public for the duration of Eat Your City Restaurant Week.
  • Jack's Gastropub is celebrating all things pig with an all pork menu.
  • House of Pong is giving Eat Your City diners 25% off if they show their Eat Your City restaurant receipt.

Eat Your City Restaurant Week is a summer celebration showcasing the diverse cuisine Windsor and Essex County has to offer with prix fixe menus at many of the area’s top restaurants.
Eat Your City 3-course meals are per person and do not include beverages, taxes or tip.

Bike To The Fireworks June 23, 2014

Beat the traffic and ride your bicycle downtown to see the spectacular fireworks over the Detroit River on Monday, June 23rd, 2014! To make Active Transportation the obvious choice,  the Windsor Bicycling Committee will provide valet bike parking service just minutes from the Riverfront and Festival Plaza.

Beginning at 7pm, you can bring your bike to Charles Clark Square (University Avenue East, across from City Hall) and lock it up safely in the WBC's valet bike parking corral. Volunteers from the committee will be on hand all evening, watching the bikes and ensuring their safety.

Cyclists are asked to bring a lock for their bike- the volunteers will use the lock to keep your bike even safer while they watch over it. Each rider will receive a ticket to hold onto during the evening; you'll have to return this ticket in order to retrieve your bike. This free service will be available for everyone from 7pm until 11:30pm.

Bike safety literature and Windsor bike trail maps will also be available!

Remember to wear your helmet and light-coloured clothing, and don't forget to put lights on your bikes for the ride home after the fireworks!

More information can be found at cyclewindsor.ca, or by calling 3-1-1.
