The 2nd Annual 'Mickey's Run' Takes Place June 7, 2014



The 2nd Annual 'Mickey's Run', presented by Centerline, is set to take place on Saturday, June 7 at the WFCU Centre.

The inaugural event last summer, held in memory of Mickey Renaud, raised more than $18,000 through the participation of 235 runners; all in support of the Windsor Spitfires Foundation and the community groups that benefit annually from its support.

This year, their goal is to raise $20,000!

REGISTRATION

1) Register ONLINE until Friday, June 6 @ 9pm.

2) Download REGISTRATION FORM, fill out and return to Spitfires office.

Race Day Kits can be picked up from 10am to 7pm on Friday, June 6 in the Governor's Room, down the hall from the Spitfires offices on the lower level of the WFCU Centre. Last minute registrations will be accepted, in person, on June 6th, and up until 9am on the day of the event.

 
PRIZES

Top 3 finishers in each age category (11 to 19, 19 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 59 & 60+) will win a prize!

If You Are Italian & A Girl Aged 16 to 25, Try Out for Miss Via Italia by May 25, 2014!

The Miss Via Italia Pageant


 


 Via Italia Carrousel of the Nation volunteer organizers are pleased to announce the return of the ever popular Miss Via Italia Pageant. This event is a highlight among all of the events taking place over the two Italian Village Carrousel weekends and attracts hundreds of fans. This year’s Carrousel of the Nations takes place on June 20-22 and June 27-29.


 


The committee organizing the pageant is currently seeking contestants with Italian Heritage to participate in the event, which takes place on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 9:00 p.m.. Hosted by Mr. Sonny Borrelli, and featuring celebrity judges, the event incorporates several elements including fashions, a talent component and an interview.


 


Along with the coveted Miss Via Italia title and tiara, a cash prize of $500 for the winner and gift packages for first and second runners up are awarded. Participants must be between the ages of 16 – 25 and be available for training sessions and rehearsals held prior to the event.


 


This event is sponsored in part by FIAT, Wincom and several local boutiques.

Come wear your finest hats with the women who inspire you, mothers, grandmothers, daughters or the lady down the street!  At the “Mother’s Day High Tea Social” we will be celebrating the women who mean the most to us with high tea and conversation. Exquisite teas and delicious sweet and savoury treats will be served as well as live music.



The Olde Walkerville Theatre will be hosting a High Tea and Social on May 10, 2014 with Finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and tea from local Entrepreneur Mary Christine Smith from Windsor Tea Emporium.  Pick up your last minute Mother’s Day gifts from local crafters with their hand selected wares especially for that special lady in your life.


 
A Fascinator Hat Workshop will be held on Wednesday May 7 to get your finest hats ready for a stroll in Walkerville on Mother’s Day


 
The itinerary begins with Sweet Tea and fruit while we mingle and shops, then an array of Finger sandwiches, scones, deserts and truffles are served with fine teas.  Mary Christine Smith will give a talk on teas from around the world and Mary Lambros, owner of The Olde Walkerville theatre, will explain the origin of “The Pink Tea” and the Famous Five Foundation in Canada.


Tickets are $25 each for the High Tea and $25 for the Fascinator Hat Workshop (when purchasing a Tea ticket) and are available on EventeBrite (search Mother’s day High Tea) or through the Event Planner, Kristy LeBlanc. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
