THE 1st ANNUAL NORTH AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL ELECTRIC VEHICLE FESTIVAL, COSTUME PARTY AND PARADE. (EV FEST WINDSOR 2014) September 27 & 28, 2014 at the Riverfront Festival Plaza

 * The weather will be great, live bands In the Pocket and Big Sexy will be providing the Motown and Classic Rock jams. . .Armando's pizza, and a few of their other choice specialties will whet your appetite, and Walkerville Brewery will quench your thirst. . .
You can also enjoy your choice of smokables in our FEVER Association coctail lounge and cigar bar located trackside along the world's most scenic 24-hour-race back-stretch. . .

The FEVER Association, in conjunction with dozens of local, regional, national, and international sponsors, is pleased to announce "EV FEST WINDSOR 2014". A highly interactive "Guinness" World Record setting electric vehicle (EV) special event. (full details at EVFestWindsor.com)

This event features attempts at no less than 6 electric vehicle "Guinness" World Records, and also offers the Sun Country Highway EVX Prize. A $10,000 prize package to the team that can go the longest distance in 24 hours on a light electric vehicle on a single charge. The University of Windsor already has a developmental vehicle ready to take on this challenge. Other teams are also welcome to come and compete for this prize. Rules are online at EVFestWindsor.com.

In addition to that, the FEVER Association (currently the only timing and scoring entity on earth who has successfully claimed 2 EV world records) will be conducting the timing and scoring for the following:

Sponsored by Daymak Windsor, Local driver John Harris will be attempting the "Longest distance in 24 hours on a mobility scooter" record, while Bonnie Bieber (Justin's aunt) will be riding a Segway in her attempt to win her second record  for the "Longest distance in 24 hours on a personal transporter" which is a brand new category that the Fever Association has opened with "Guinness", just for this event.

This is also the world's most interactive event of its kind in that the general public will be able to drive any of the many types of EV's on site, as well as their own vehicle either on the 200 metre track for light EVs, or any of the many electric cars available to be test driven on  public streets.

The way this event works is to utilize crowd-funding in that they will pay $2 a lap, or $20 a dozen to drive on the track while history is being made, to benefit several selected local charities, and pay for the 10 new Sun Country Highway car chargers that will be distributed throughout this community. This is to encourage EV usage, infrastructure, and build jobs and eco-tourism in our region. Current recipients are Freeds, The Lighting Boutique, Carpenters local 494, Infinite signs, Z's Auto, Armando's Pizza, Daymak Windsor, and possibly Walkerville Brewery. Other recipients will be announced at the event.

Door prizes including 1 Triumph electric bike will also be won and (Since this is also a costume themed event) there will also be prizes for best costumes, provided by the Party Warehouse.

There will be entertainment throughout the event, with a grand finale costume party immediately following the parade, (At 2 pm Sunday Sept 28) which is also attempting all 4 "Guinness" "Most EV's in a parade" categories. This will proceed from the staging area at the foot of the Ambassador Bridge and then along the very scenic riverfront pathway and back to Festival Plaza, pursuant to "Guinness" specs.

The 24 hour endurance challenge opening ceremonies are at 11:30 am, Saturday Sept 27, and the "24 hours of FEVER" event begins at noon sharp and will run non-stop until noon sharp Sunday, Sept 28. The parade begins at 2 pm, immediately following.

Also a new event has just been added. On Tuesday Sept 30 at 10 am, the Motor City contingent of the Sun Country Highway E-Mazing Race will also launch from this site, sometime after the parade, and more info on that is available on the Sun Country Highway website. This is to celebrate the world's longest electrified highway.
